It’s not high season in Aspen until the Argentines arrive with their polo ponies, cleated and acclimated to run laps in a field of groomed snow. The 2018 St. Regis World Snow Polo Championships were held December 19 and 20 at Rio Grande Plaza in cool and crisp conditions. Richard Mille was the official timekeeper of the event, while Blade & Bow, a smooth-as-silk Kentucky bourbon poured Kentucky mules in the VIP tent… Speaking of the tent, the alpine-chic spectator area was decked to the nines by the St. Regis Aspen with all the glorious fixings. But with some of the world’s top players such as Nic Roldan and Nacho Figueras playing, the glitz was a sideshow to the competition on the field, and viewers packed the sidewalls to cheer on the action. Melissa and Marc Ganzi of the Aspen Valley Polo Club pledged proceeds from event to the Aspen Valley Hospital Foundation. ‘Tis the season!
